Michigan’s new Earned Sick Time Law requires employers to provide employees with paid sick time for personal or family health needs, domestic violence or sexual assault issues, and school-related meetings for a child’s care.
Sick time begins accruing on February 21, 2025 (or upon hire), with small businesses (10 or fewer employees) having until October 1, 2025 to comply.
The law also sets rules for notice, documentation, carryover, wage payments, and prohibits retaliation, while requiring that employees receive detailed notices about their rights, including ESTA rights, by March 23, 2025.
