Izet started his career in the trades over 30 years ago while visiting family in Germany. Originally from Bosnia, he began as a laborer, quickly proving his natural talent, curiosity, and work ethic. His first major break came when he was offered a permanent position as a carpenter, despite limited tools and resources. In Germany, he contributed to major projects, including the Munich Airport and the Erdinger Brewing facility, refining his craft and building the discipline that would shape his career.
After relocating to Grand Rapids, Michigan, Izet took on various jobs before joining Bouma Corporation, where he has worked for over 25 years on landmark projects such as the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, and the Switch data center. His work has left a lasting mark on the West Michigan community. Today, Izet dedicates much of his time to mentoring young tradespeople, sharing his knowledge and passion for craftsmanship.
