Escorting us into the 1990's was none other than Jen Schottke and crew, Ben Hammond, Josh Lester, and John DeBlaay!

The 90's brought us dial-up internet, tamagotchis, the most memorable sitcoms, and a craze around a certain beanie baby that may or may not be worth thousands (let's go with not). At the same time, ABC helped establish the standardized curriculum of craft training, NCCER, that we use today at the @wmcinstitute.

The first decade of our EIC legacy was a flashback to the 80's!

Back when Top Gun was the biggest movie in America and carrying around boom boxes was the cool thing to do, the Excellence in Construction Awards was just getting started as the Construction Awards Competition.

Thank you to Norm Brady, Jerry Cardinal, Nate Koetje, and Ken Bing, for bringing us back a few decades... and for convincing us that windbreakers need to make a comeback.

Shoutout to Jeramy Smith for being named this year

Shoutout to Jeramy Smith for being named this year's 2026 Craft Professional of the Year!

Jeramy consistently leads by example at Pleune Service Company, showing apprentices the ropes and never being afraid to get on their level and do the same thing they’re doing. “If you are a young employee who wants to learn, [Jeramy] is arguably the best I’ve seen,” says Andy Weisbrodt, VP of Construction.

Check out Jeramy's video, along with the other finalists, Jordan Gilbert, Todd Hanninen, and Joel VanDuyn, on our YouTube channel (link in bio)!
