A Journey of Dedication and Growth
Mike Brechting’s construction career began at 16, sweeping floors for his uncle’s residential construction company. Starting as a laborer with no prior experience, his drive to learn quickly set him apart. Two years later, he transitioned to commercial construction under another uncle’s mentorship. While working on demolition and carpentry projects, Mike found his passion for the craft and began building his career.

Over the next five years, Mike honed his skills in carpentry, sequencing, and job site management. His dedication and team-first attitude earned him the trust of peers and supervisors. Committed to doing the job right—even when no one was watching—Mike built a strong foundation of technical skill, integrity, and attention to detail.

Joining Triangle Associates was a key moment in his career. He started as a skilled tradesman on the Ferguson Apartments project, where he learned important lessons about planning and scheduling. Over time, his flexibility and leadership earned him a promotion to superintendent. In his leadership role, he stays hands-on, working alongside his crews to ensure high-quality craftsmanship.

Mastery Through Experience
Mike’s technical expertise has developed from years of hands-on experience, particularly in rebar and concrete work, areas he considers his strongest due to the sheer amount of time and effort he has invested. Instead of relying on formal training programs, Mike learned by asking questions, observing others, and solving problems as they arose. Mistakes became opportunities to grow, and he embraced a philosophy of persistence and improvement that remains at the core of his leadership.

For Mike, true mastery isn’t just about honing individual skills—it’s about using that expertise to support and uplift others. Known for his approachable attitude and dedication to mentorship, he’s always willing to pause his own work to teach or help his team. Whether it’s demonstrating a technique or solving problems alongside his crew, Mike leads by example.

Mike’s focus on scheduling—something he sees as a key part of his craft—highlights his ability to balance the technical and strategic sides of his job. By working collaboratively and planning ahead, he ensures jobsite tasks stay on track, turning potential challenges into opportunities for success.

Leadership Rooted in Respect and Humility
Mike’s leadership style is built on respect for people and the craft itself. Having worked his way up from laborer to superintendent, he understands the challenges faced at every project level. This firsthand experience empowers him to lead with empathy, humility, and adaptability. Whether mentoring younger team members, solving complex issues, or stepping in during critical moments, Mike leads by example in a way that fosters trust and loyalty.

Mike’s leadership extends beyond the job site. He is deeply committed to promoting careers in construction through community outreach. From speaking at career fairs and leading job site tours to participating in media campaigns, Mike works to inspire students and highlight the opportunities in the trades. By sharing his own story, he helps young people see what’s possible and encourages the next generation of craft professionals.
