Phase 2: Site
Excavators, Electricians, Plumbers, Concrete, and Steel
- Contact info for everyone working on site
- Logistics, sequencing, signage, check-ins at the office
- Establish laydown areas
- MISS DIG, surveys, orientation, flex and stretch, provide asbuilt
- Jobsite security (barricades, cameras, etc.) and access/egress identification
- Address weather concerns (heat, cold, lightning, snow, and ice)
- Verify certification and training cards
Phase 3: Building (Building Erection, Shell, Roof)
MEP's, Steel Worker, Masons, Roofers, Carpenters
- Identify overhead work/falling objects
- Proper scaffold erection, walking working areas
- Identify and coordinate masonry wall bracing requirements
- Verify employee training to work in restricted zone
- Verify silica safe practices and expectations
- Establish efficient sequencing
- Address weather concerns (heat, cold, lightning, snow, and ice)
- Address temp heat and air monitoring with the trades
- Verify correct PPE for all trade contractors
- Reinforce correct stamped and engineered installations
- Account for any hazard gaps, floor openings, coordination and communication
- Provide floor ratings reiterate safety expectations
Phase 4: Rough-ins
MEP's, Masons, Drywall, Framing
- Lift permits (training cards)
- Temp lighting/LOTO program
- House keeping daily expectations
- Ladders use and storage
- Proper scaffold erection walking working areas
- Heavy lifting/rigging
- Loading zones
- Strong collaboration and communication between trade partners and GC
- Site walks/audits at 25%, 50%, and 75% complete to verify compliance
- Invite MIOSHA CET to evaluate site and verify compliance
Phase 5: Ceilings and Walls
Drywall, MEP's, Carpenters, Interior Finishers, Painters
- Recognize and address language barriers
- SDS training, air quality monitoring ergonomics, electrical cords (tripping hazards),
material handling, and housekeeping - Expectations on accountability and jobsite requirements
- Flex and stretch, fatigue management
- Offer bi-lingual orientations for trade partners
- Continue site walks
- Validate staging areas
- Invite MIOSHA CET for site walk
Phase 6: Interior Finishes
Painters, MEP's, Flooring, GC, Inspectors, Owner
- PPE use, transition from temp power to permanent
- GFCI splitters, air quality, fatigue management
- Correct ladder use
- Housekeeping and trash removal
- Continue PPE until the job is complete
- Effective/relevant owner training
- Final inspections
- Consistent communication and involvement
