Craft Professional Career Story
Lorenzo Brown’s journey in the world of construction began in Jamaica when he was just ten. Thanks to his uncle’s construction business, he got an early start hauling materials and doing all sorts of on-site tasks. With his uncle’s guidance, Lorenzo quickly honed his skills and became a skilled mason. Over the next decade, he played a significant role in building villas and hotels in his hometown.
In 2007, driven by a desire for new experiences, he relocated to America, later settling in Michigan in 2008. Joining Erhardt Construction as a laborer was a significant milestone in his journey. Even though Lorenzo faced cultural challenges and the complexities of the residency process, his determination paid off, and he became a U.S. citizen in 2015.
Over 16 years at Erhardt Construction, Lorenzo advanced from laborer to crew leader in 2012, assistant superintendent in 2019, and finally to superintendent in 2021. His professional journey is marked by numerous courses and certifications from Grand Rapids Community College and other industry programs, reflecting his unwavering commitment to excellence.
Mastery of Craft Skills
From his early years in Jamaica, Lorenzo has consistently demonstrated a natural talent for masonry and carpentry. Despite his extensive expertise, he modestly describes himself as a “construction worker.” His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality shine through in his work, particularly in millwork, carpentry, and his specialization in doors and hardware. Lorenzo holds certifications in Hardie Siding and Allegiant Products and is currently pursuing his builder’s license to further expand his skill set.
