Prioritizing Safety and Mental Well-Being at Town & Country Group

Cultivating a Safety-First Culture
Safety, closely linked to mental well-being, is a fundamental value at Town & Country. The Safety Director has dedicated 25 years to cultivating a culture where safety is the top priority. This journey begins during apprenticeship and includes training future apprentices alongside foremen to foster a sense of ownership and accountability in safety practices. Following the recent transition to a fully employee-owned company, the leadership team remains committed to integrating safety into every facet of operations. By actively involving all employees in the safety process, Town & Country Group ensures that safety is a primary focus from project estimation through to execution.

Embracing Digital Transformation for Safety Accountability
To improve their safety program, Town & Country Group has made significant strides this year by introducing digital timesheets through the Traqspera platform. This move encourages employees to take responsibility for their work and tackle safety issues proactively. The change allows for daily monitoring of safety practices and promotes a culture of accountability.

From the initial planning stages to execution, safety is a core priority, reinforcing their mission to prioritize the well-being of our workforce above all else. By tracking leading indicators and emphasizing safety culture during orientations and evaluations, Town & Country Group is committed to maintaining a safe, efficient, and supportive workplace where every team member feels valued and heard.

Addressing Mental Health in the Construction Industry
At Town & Country Group, the critical importance of mental health in the construction industry is recognized, particularly in light of changing workforce demographics, skilled worker shortages, and high suicide rates among peers. Since 2021, proactive steps have been taken to provide employees with the resources necessary to address emotional health, anxiety, and other related concerns. Initially, Right Now Media was implemented as a confidential platform offering a wealth of resources; however, engagement was lacking, leading to a transition towards a Corporate Chaplaincy program. This initiative enables team members and their families to connect with licensed professionals for mental health support, completely free and confidential.

A Holistic Approach to Employee Well-Being
Town & Country Group’s unwavering commitment to safety and mental health reflects a profound understanding that both elements are essential for fostering a productive work environment. By encouraging open communication, providing resources, and fostering accountability, the company empowers employees to take charge of their well-being.

Looking ahead, the Town & Country Group leadership team is dedicated to continually evolving these initiatives, ensuring that every employee feels supported and valued. This holistic approach not only aims to reduce incidents and enhance mental health outcomes but also strives to create a workplace where all individuals can thrive together.
